A pre-sanded raw solid oak parquet concerns parquet strips with no finish, ie “in the raw state of the wood”. This type of solid parquet offers the possibility of customizing its parquet with a wide choice of finishes (stained, varnished, oiled).
You should never leave your parquet in the rough. The choice of a finish is essential for aesthetic reasons but above all for protective reasons. Without finishing, the wood is not durably protected against potential stains on the parquet.
VARNISHING A PRE-PUMICE RAW SOLID PARQUET
The varnished or vitrified finish, in addition to being aesthetic, offers protection to the parquet to avoid potential stains that become embedded in the wood.
The varnish or the vitrifier penetrates slightly on the wood forming a protective layer. Today, our varnishes are single-component based on resin and hardener. Easy to use and ready to use you will use it in two or three coats in the direction of the wood with ginning (micro-sanding) between the two coats. You can give a different texture to your parquet by using matte, glossy or satin varnishes. We advise you to use a ShemenWood® brand sealer.
OILING A PRE-PUMICE RAW SOLID PARQUET
An oil-wax finish gives a “natural wood” appearance and keeps the authenticity of the wood. This product penetrates the wood and clogs the pores deeply. This finish will give you a feel closer to wood unlike varnish. Today there are tinted oils that will give your parquet a different appearance. Oil-wax is easily applicable and easier to maintain unlike linseed oil.
TINTING A PRE-PUMICE RAW SOLID PARQUET
If you are looking for even more customization and create your own parquet color, you can put a stain (color of your choice) on your raw parquet before putting a hard bottom which will allow the color to hold.
Once the stain and the hard base have been applied to the parquet, it is important to finish the finish with varnish or oil-wax. Several choices of colors exist so that you can find THE color that will make you vibrate.
