DEFINITION OF A SOLID PARQUET:
Solid wood flooring is made up of a single piece of wood with the same type of wood. Parquet strips are made up of grooves (female parts) and tongues (male parts) so that they can fit together.
There are several thicknesses of slats ranging from 10mm to 23mm, several widths from 50mm to 220mm as well as several lengths up to 2400mm.
THE DIFFERENT POSITIONS OF A SOLID PARQUET
Solid parquet can be laid in different ways:
– Nailed installation: a solid oak floor must be at least 18mm thick and 23mm minimum for European type wood (pine, fir etc.)
– Glued laying: the parquet strip must be fully glued with DINACHOC C901 glue
It is STRONGLY not recommended to lay your solid parquet floor floating.
It is a “living” parquet that works over time and must therefore be fixed to the floor.
Solid parquet can be of different finishes: varnished, oiled, raw, brushed, aged etc. and different types of wood (oak or exotic woods).
THE ADVANTAGES OF A SOLID PARQUET
There is nothing more authentic and more traditional than a solid parquet floor reminiscent of the parquet floors of yesteryear. Parquet is a lasting investment but you will be delighted to see that it has other significant advantages. Solid wood flooring can last up to 70 years or more depending on the traffic and the type of flooring chosen. The parquet floor can be sanded after several years in order to give it a more radiant color and thus give it a new youth. Parquet degrades only very rarely. If a floorboard is damaged, you can replace it. No need to renovate the entire room!
