Solid parquet may already be stained on the surface when you buy it. It is very rare that a wood is tinted in the mass. It is best to opt for surface tinting so that in the future you can change the tint as you see fit. Many solid oaks can be stained black, imitation exotic wood, white, gray etc… A stained oak is more complicated to maintain since the slightest scratch will reveal the original color of the wood. We advise you instead to put colored oils which will be easier to maintain.
FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE
There are also thermo-treated parquet floors. This technique allows the wood to have throughout its mass a smoked color despite the sanding that can be carried out. Heat treatment gives the wood better resistance. Only this technique can be made in the mass of wood. Whether the parquet is stained or heat-treated, it is mandatory to finish the parquet by putting vitrifier or oil-wax.
